The Lake Murray Fourth of July Fireworks Show is set to happen this Saturday. The organizers plan on starting the show at dusk, which they anticipate to be around 9:15 PM.
If you’re interested in watching the fireworks over Lake Murray, there are a few things you need to know. As of writing this article, the Lexington-side parking lot at the Lake Murray dam is closed and, from our understanding, will not be open for parking on Saturday. The Irmo-side parking lot at the Lake Murray dam is currently open and is planned to be open for parking on Saturday. Note that there is a $5.00 fee to park. The parking lot attendants will be allowing cars to enter on a first come to capacity basis. Arrive early if you want to get a good spot! In addition, you can venture out to Dreher Island or Spence Island to watch the show. Each year many people take their boats to the water to view the spectacular show.
It is important to note that the boat parade will not take place this year. Due to issues surrounding the pandemic, the parade is cancelled. According to other sources, the organizers do plan on hosting the parade during next year’s Independence Day event.
No matter which lake location you choose, be sure to be safe and enjoy your evening. We wish you a happy Independence Day. If you get any awesome photos of your freedom celebration at Lake Murray, send them over to our J King Real Estate Facebook page and we’ll include them in our 4th of July celebration collage.
